Foundry & Mold Making

In 2012 I first learned lost wax bronze casting during my BA in Fine Art at UCA, Farnham. After leaving university in 2013 I have gone on to build my own foundry for metal casting, using locally salvaged materials. This foundry utilises charcoal and airflow as fuel, eliminating the need for technical gas systems, I aim to keep it charcoal fuelled to make casting more accessible with limited means. This is a self funded project for my own benefit, and to be able to continue my sculpture practice.

I am currently experimenting with alternative mold making materials that can withstand the heat of aluminium casting, including clay, plaster, sand, and cob. I am now using the foundry to reclaim metals from architectural salvage and casting them into ingots for use in future projects.
